Grandfather-the late John Remedios
Grandmother- Alzira Remedios
This is what Blaise Costabir (Alfie's brother-in-law and Clare's husband) sent in to us: I too am stunned by the events of the passed few days, guess the fact that things had to be done kept me occupied and the fact has still to sink in, it is unbelievable that Alfred is no more. I spoke to him last at around 7 pm just before I left work. At 7.20 I spoke to Clare who was with him. We decided since Bearnadette was around she would come home and I would go there for the night.
How many netizens are there in Saligao? Anyone has a approximate figure of that? I 'm kinda wondering where the NRS (Non-Resident Saligaokars) are !! .. Don't see too many of them on this site. I guess this is the perfect platform for them to interact with other Saligaokars. Or maybe they don't know about this site.
Other things which we can accomodate: * A simple java script based chat ( for logged in users). * A classifieds page (fine grained, as in, it should accomodate things as small as "hitching a lift to Panjim" ... or am I going too far?)
Its really nice to see this community site. It’s a little young, but I guess it’ll gather “critical mass” in some time.
Saligao has changed -- a lot. It's totally different from what it was in the 80’s. And the only thing which is constant in the Universe is change.
What we can however do is adapt to the changes. The worst thing which can happen to a community is lack of belongingness. That’s what you see in the metro’s today people do not even know their next door neighbors.
Know of any good Saligao links? Send them across, and we can have them up on the homepage...
Do a search on Google and what are the top ten hits you get for Saligao? *Saligao Tinto* is on top. This site used to be on GoaCom.com and is now on GoaCom.org at this location.
Others in the top-ten listings are the Saligao page on the Amchegoa site, the Ayurvedic Natural Health Centre at Saligao, a VirtualTourist.com link, Lourdes Convent Alumni mailing list, some news reports, and even a couple of posts by Annette and others from the SaligaoNet mailing list.
We've just launched this Civicspace-based site, and hope to keep it going as a cyber-infopoint for Saligao. The goal is to complement the earlier Saligao Tinto website on Goacom.org and also the Saligaonet mailing list.
Thanks indeed to a very big way to Derek Cordeiro, out young techie who gave excellent advice and did all the tech work to make this happen. Also to Chris in the UK, for making this venture possible and within reach!
